Retinal Imaging

With an Optos Daytona, Dr. Marvin will take photographs of the back of your eye (retina). This helps to see a detailed image of your retina – more detailed than past techniques that used an ophthalmoscope to look at your retina.

Retinal imaging is the best way to detect the earliest signs of eye disease or damage. Retinal imaging can detect the following conditions:

• age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
• diabetes
• glaucoma
• high blood pressure (hypertension).

Early detection of eye disease or damage gives you the best chance of protecting your vision via appropriate treatment.

When Dr. Marvin has imaged your retina, she will show you the photographs and explain your results. These photographs will be saved so your eye doctor can compare them with images taken at your next visit. That way, even small changes can be detected.
